Stewart Cooper Newell Architects teamed up with Kirkpatrick Architecture Studio as a design consultant for the first LEED Gold certified station in Texas, as well as the second station receiving Gold in the nation. The station needed to be built to accommodate for the City’s growth and for possible future expansion. Station No. 7 has four bays, a community room, and a police substation, while able to mirror Denton’s agricultural roots. Some of the green strategies incorporated in the building include a rain harvesting system, geo-thermal heat pump, ample daylight, high-efficiency lighting, and operational windows in the sleeping room.
